Is death immutable, or can the spirit survive?
Hawaii 1941-
The Japanese strike with the swift
stroke of a Samurai sword and embroil America in a savage war, fought
over the island home of the Polynesians and their ancient gods. At Pearl
Harbor, a rogue Japanese pilot slays Laura, the beautiful new bride of
American Navy pilot, Grant Hylton. In the clash of fast carriers, he
exacts a terrible and personal vengeance, culminating in the fiery
victory at the Battle of Midway.
Unknown to Grant, Auntie Manalani, an
ancient Hawaiian kaula, a
shaman, promised the dying Laura to undo the tragedy, and put everything
back the way it was meant to be.
She cradles a tiny ethereal blue butterfly in her wrinkled hands.
Laura’s spirit isn’t gone, but lies beyond Grant’s reach. Only one
chance remains to reunite them and it all depends on someone far away;
somebody who wasn’t even born when Laura died.
Hawaii 1961 -
A college student arrives in Honolulu for her
summer research project. She’s never been to Hawaii before, but somehow
she feels as though she’s returning home.
Point Option carefully interweaves authentic history, enduring romance and
Hawaiian tradition to tell the story of three diverse societies facing a
terrible war and its aftermath.
Point Option is multicultural historical fiction told in part
from the viewpoint of Polynesian spiritual beliefs. |
