This is the gold standard, a well written,  detailed scholarly history for the serious student of the early naval air war. Also recommended is the companion book First Team And the Guadalcanal Campaign: Naval Fighter Combat from August to November 1942

Cunningham's Guide to Hawaiian Magic & Spirituality

Easy reading overview of the subject by a prolific author of books on magic and spiritualism but it seems to be fairly accurate overall.
